The upshot is that around 200 million days are lost each year through absence, excluding holidays and unauthorised leave, the annual cost to the economy has been estimated at £12 billion a year.

  • A survey by accountants PricewaterhouseCoopers shows that the workload of non-executive directors is increasing beyond recognition. According to the study, over half of company secretaries feel the workload of Non-Executive Directors has increased by 25% in the last three to five years and a quarter estimated the increase as being 50%.
